Toy Story was my third show with Disney on Ice, and definitely my favorite...as far as the show goes. I was with the show for only one tour through the US and Canada, from November 1999 until April 2000. I spent a few weeks as head electrician, before going back to assistant for various political reasons (and because I was going to another show before the end of the tour). Until we could find another assistant to do so, I was running the Animator lighting console. After that, most of my time was spent fixing broken lighting instruments. Trust me, there was plenty of repair needed!!
My time with Toy Story was split. I came in for a week immediately following my Japanese tour of Japan to learn the show, then headed out again for a short stint on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. After my six weeks on Snow White, I returned to Toy Story to finish out the tour.
While Toy Story was my favorite SHOW to date, it was certainly not my favorite tour to work on. Everything seemed to be in complete disarray, and the number of overtime hours was dreadful. Badly maintained equipment (prior to my arrival) and a low crew morale made for a very difficult time!
Each of the links below will open a page with more details about the tour.
